Babylock/Nancy Zieman event and what I've been sewing....

Yes, I've been sewing! And yes, it's another swap, but this will be the last for a long time. I really really have to sew some things for me and mine.
First the swap stuff I made. I did a review which should show on the right sidebar.
TUTORIAL LINK for making the thread catcher.
The machine cover was a total accident. I usually make it like I did the last one - a big box. But this time I cut the fabric and fused the batting only to find I'd cut it too narrow. So I cussed a lot and then made gussets.
BUT -- I actually used my new Enlighten and it's piping foot and it worked great!! Even on a curve!!!

Only one more item to go in this "Make a Friend Swap" -- and it's a secret in case my partner is watching this blog.

Above you see all the stuff I bought at the Nancy Zieman/Babylock "Love to Sew" Retreat, sponsored by my Babylock dealer, A1 Sewing in Covington LA.

Below is the sweatshirt jacket we made. I don't like this one, but can see where these would allow much creativity and be fun to make. We used the Evolution Serger/Coverstitch combo and the Enlighten, with wave stitching.

Next is my favorite, the evening bag, done with the Embellisher, which is a 12 needle Felting Machine. Now I really wanted one of these, but they were $499 on sale at the show, which I thought was too much. Now I have a once used one on it's way to me for only $325 including shipping. Check out the Sew It's For Sale Yahoo Group -- everything moves fast and there is much being offered. I put in an "ISO", (in search of) and got 4 responses!!

Finally, the little lingerie bag.

We used the Ellageo machine for this. I was lusting for one of these machines -- bad--- after using it at the retreat. Then an ASG friend bought it, so I got to go to her house and show her some basic things about embroidery. Her machine is quieter and smoother than my Brother Innovis 1200. And, of course it has a color screen which allows editing, uses a flash drive and all that. However, I couldn't tell the difference between my machine and hers as far as basic quality of an embroidery that I did on both machines. The embroidery had lettering and lots of satin stitching. Same design on the same fabric and stabilizer. I'll have to show you the design after I mail it to my swap partner. So, I'm really not sure if it's worth all that to upgrade after all.
